Inspired by the world famous Eddies Attic open mic, Rome Music Collective will host a Songwriter Showcase Competition every 4th Thursday of the month, 7pm-9pm, beginning in May, at Cosmic Dog Outpost, sponsored by the ROME AREA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, and FREE and open to the public! Each performer will have 10 minutes to play two original songs. Each night, a panel of judges with a music industry background, will select three finalists to perform one song at the end of the night, and then one finalist will be selected from the three. The finalists from each showcase will be invited to participate in the Songwriter Showdown, featuring an evening of songs with the finalists from each showcase, and ONE LUCKY SONGWRITER will receive an AWARD and a PRIZE (date to be announced). The objective is to showcase songwriters- the competition aspect is just for fun. Audience response is a part of the judging criteria, so be sure to show up and cheer on your favorite songwriters!
